From the first look at the colour, dark black red, through the perfumed nose, then the power packed palate, this is clearly going to be a class wine! ... dark fruits, black berries, plums, liquorice, then opening up to add touches of vanilla, a sliver of chocolate, spices and a hint of cream. The palate too is super intense, densely packed fruits, layers of black berry, plum, super ripe raspberries and liquorice, with a really creamy mouthfeel. The finish is very long, with loads of soft and fine tannins.
This is a wine with power, yet structure, intense and tight, with a huge future in front of it. Indeed, it was at its best, and getting better, three hours later. Class all the way! Gavin Trott

This is a serious wine, dense, rich, ripe, almost chunky with slabs of fruits, a basket of berries style, with a touch of earth and spice, and some regional dark chocolate. The palate is luscious, chock full of fruit, all black and red berries, plums, spice and some peppery edges, with a lovely velvety mouthfeel, and a full mid palate. This wine is incredibly exciting with a huge range of exotic florals and spices in the bouquet. I see hints of cinnamon or the richer cousin Cassia bark. Initially it has a broody dark berry tone and then lifts with some delicate floral notes like the roses grandpa used to obsessively tend; dark ruby rose. The palate explodes like the fruit of a pomegranate with a nice tang linking in with the gravelly tannins. It's like a locomotive on the palate, it keeps building steam. Great vitality and perfume!
