    Ravensworth Canberra Shiraz Viognier 2015

    Regular Price: $36.00

    Special Price: $34.50

    As low as: $33.00

"We all know that Bryan Martin who does a lot of the heavy lifting alongside Tim Kirk at famed winery Clonakilla, but he’s defining himself very nicely outside of his day job. Up in lights. This is a belter of a release (again).
Whoa. That perfume. That amaro and belt of spice through the palate. That silkiness. That medium weight and build of light sinewy tannin. That gloss. That fruit purity. It’s just brilliant. Strong scents of dark cherry, blueberries, rose petal, anise, alpine herbs. Effortless glide with good concentration of flavour rolls long through to its satiny conclusion.
Beautiful wine. Go at this with a full tilt sprint, not a run, don’t walk." 95 points Winefront.com.au

  2. Adelina Eternal Return Arneis 2015

    Adelina Eternal Return Arneis 2015

    Regular Price: $25.00

    Special Price: $23.99

    As low as: $23.00

I’ve met Adelina winemaker, Col McBryde, a couple of times. He’s a nice chap. Quiet. Thoughtful. Has a bit of a perky face too. Applies his considerable intelligence to his craft, or so it seems to me. There are no shit wines at Adelina. Arneis is a hard grape to get right, I think, but this is spot on. The balance is all just so, with the right amount of richness of fruit and silky glossy texture, cut back just right with flinty bits and cool acidity. The flavours are probably something like almonds, green pears, fresh herbs and maybe tangerine, with a touch of warmth. Finish is crunchy, like a crisp green pear and its skin.
    Such a lovely wine. 93 points Winefront.com.au

    Ravensworth Hilltops Nebbiolo 2015

    Regular Price: $36.00

    Special Price: $34.50

    As low as: $33.00

...The palate is inky yet light on its feet, though truth be told it feels like its lacking just a touch of tension. Acidity is beautiful, crisp, cool and lifts the wash of dark fruit, fennel, sweet spice and sheet of lacy tannin to a sweet fruit and amaro finish.
Generous nebbiolo full of character."  92 points Winefront.com.au
Deeper colour than most nebbiolos, with intense crimson; rose petals, spice, earth and a lick of tar and dried herbs lead to a generous and relatively rounded palate, the trademark savoury tannins driving the length. 13.5% alc, screwcap 95 points, drink to 2030, $36 James Halliday

  1. S.C. Pannell Dead End Tempranillo 2015

S.C. Pannell Dead End Tempranillo 2015

    Regular Price: $27.99

    Special Price: $26.50

    As low as: $25.50

100 % Tempranillo from the Koomilya & Sellicks Hill vineyards in McLaren Vale. The must was traditionally vinified in small open-top fermenters for 10 days. Aged for seven months in large format French and Hungarian oak vats and puncheons, 20% of which were new. This is highly perfumed, vibrant and complex with sweet black cherries, sarsaparilla, and good hints of exotic spice. A plush, light- to medium-bodied, juicy wine with leafy, dusty tannins on the finish.

  2. Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet 2014

    Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet 2014

    Regular Price: $34.99

    Special Price: $33.50

    As low as: $32.00

Review : "If anything this 2014 Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is the exact opposite of green – it’s teetering on too ripe. Sexy ripe though. Very dark red in colour, it’s concentrated and thick from the outset, with a very lush coffeed blackberry richness with a dash of eucalypt. Ahoy Coonawarra! Polished and silky, the style is silky smooth, fleshy and lavish, every bit the ripe and berry fleshed wine you expect it to be, complete with bitter tannins and warming alcohol.

My only quibble that it's a bit too warm and there’s no subtlety. Still, for weight, juiciness and silky length this is very easy to like. I may even be scoring it too lowly. Best drinking: 2018-2030. 18.1/20, 93/100.14.5%, $40." Ozwinereview

If you see this in a shop anywhere; clear them out. It’s a beautiful, intriguing, tangy, sweet-but-serious wine at a snip of a price. Buy a dozen. Buy two. It’s rusty and redcurrranty, redolent of ripe raspberries, fractionally herbal and chalky but lively, scented, structured, the kit and the caboodle. It’s light and it’s lovely. $20-ish?"

  1. Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2015

    Regular Price: $30.99

    Special Price: $28.99

    As low as: $28.00

The first release of a new “Yarra Valley range” out of Giant Steps. This in the context that Giant Steps has sold the Innocent Bystander name (to Brown Brothers).

Hand picked, wild yeast, no fining or filtration. The winemaking doesn’t sound compromised, and nor does the shape and flavour of the wine in the mouth. It’s sour-sweet in a positive way, ripped with dry herbs and cherry-plum, with cranberry and crushed dry spice notes aplenty. It’s succulent, it’s tangy, it’s spicy and yet it’s firm and strong. It speaks of a top-notch vintage, and producer. Rated : 94 Points Winefront.com.au

    Ravensworth Canberra Districts Sangiovese 2015

    Regular Price: $28.00

    Superb drinking!

Includes 6% cabernet sauvignon, wild openfermented in five batches, 2-4 weeks on skins, matured in used French oak. Light, bright colour; the bowl of cherries on the bouquet becomes more complex on the medium-bodied, very long, savoury/spicy palate.
Almost painfully pure; in a year you'll be very happy. 13% alc, screwcap 94 points, drink to 2030, $25 James Halliday

  3. Dog Point Pinot Noir 2014

    Dog Point Pinot Noir 2014

    Regular Price: $47.99

    Special Price: $46.00

    As low as: $45.00

This is the most triumphant Dog Point Pinot yet. I had to try this three times, coming back time and time again just to confirm whether it was ‘that good’ and my nose/mouth wasn’t deceiving me. Seriously concentrated, even in its absolute youth this looks spot on, all bright red fruit and a little stemmy sap on the nose. The palate is deep and surprisingly firm, entirely mouthwatering despite the low acidity, the long, spicy, sappy finish a masterpiece.

Central Otago be damned! Masterful and grown up Marlborough Pinot with a vitality that is unmatched. Interesting that this had me thinking about the brilliant Fromm Pinots when tasting this (which are some of the best Pinots in the region). Maybe it is the low acid and bright fruit? What a wine. Ready to go already as well. Yes. Best drinking 2016-2026. 18.7/20, 95/100. 14%, $35. Would I buy it? Oh yes. Would be nice to have a case of this hanging around the house.
