"Now in a Burgundy bottle. Grenache and Mataro here. Attractive perfume, spicy and floral, red fruits and a subtle earthiness. Powdery and pretty, blood orange and strawberry, spicy and fresh to close. Gentle, but persuasive charm.

Cedarwood, cream, melon, white peach. Milky chardonnay. Long chardonnay, Mellifluous chardonnay. Add these together and you have yourself a sensational wine. Laced with fennel, ever so gorgeously textured, a long sail of flavour to close. I took one sniff, one sip, and did not require any further convincing.

"Just beautiful. This is chardonnay going for gold. It has plenty of oomph too; nothing wimpy here. Peaches, pears, grapefruit, nougat and cedarwood. Both variety and oak get a good unashamed workout. There you go. Quality, nailed."

  1. Crawford Wines Riesling 2017

    Crawford Wines Riesling 2017
96 Points James Halliday Wine Companion - Wow this is good. There's a lot of very good riesling around but the details here are so punchy and so vivid; it just has that extra something. Lime, slate and spice flavours but it's the palate intensity and power through the finish which sets it apart." - Campbell Mattinson (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 PointsThe Wine Front - ..... t’s a rapier-thrust of tightly wound, lean and refreshing fruit with purity and velocity to burn. Such a sense of precision here too, especially helped by the quivering tension found from the tight, chalky boundaries of the wine. You get the sense of quality fruit and considered winemaking from first sip. Best yet, beyond that, it’s fantastic drinking." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

96 Points & Top 100 Wines of 2018 James Halliday
“Gleaming straw-green; this is an exceptional chardonnay, with the intensity of thegrapefruit skin, pith and juice of White Burgundy, missing only any funky characters on its long, precisely formed palate and lingering aftertaste, New World chardonnay at its best price and quality.”

96 points, likened to White Burgundy ... insane quality and insane value for money!

  1. Guthrie Clones Chardonnay 2018

    Guthrie Clones Chardonnay 2018

    Regular Price: $25.00

    Special Price: $23.99

Bernard and Entav clones, and really, it’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (lately Merlot) where (some) people care about clonal make-up.
Fine feeling wine, with lovely chalky texture, cool acidity, and heaps good length. Flavours fall to citrus and white peach, oak is pretty discreet, with some raw almond and savoury flavours in the mix. Needs another few months to a year in bottle to show its best.

'The first release from the 56yo vines. It has the precision, length and balance of the best of the Contours; crispy acidity lifts the finish and aftertaste. The drink to date 20 years hence is not fanciful.'
    95 Points - James Halliday

'Pretty perfume of frangipani and green leaves, fragrant ginger and lemongrass, citrus, pith and juice, grapefruit sorbet. Such a lovely start. Beautiful texture and softeness of mineral-draped acidity. Slate, wet pebble, then the tang of citrus, touch of tonic water, pop of green herbs, maybe even eucalyptus in there. Character filled, softness and mineral charm in spades. Superb.'

    Scout Chardonnay 2017

Here we go. This has the crackle of quality. It’s well fruited, is bursting with spice, has flint tucked into its shirt and fig slung around its neck. Acidity tears through the wine like a kid at a new bike. Flavour chases right on after it. This is one of those ‘all we have learned’ wines. You can feel history past and present informing its every step. I’m not mentioning value. The wine does it for me.

  1. Domaine Naturaliste Artus Chardonnay 2017

    Domaine Naturaliste Artus Chardonnay 2017

Artus is an artistic translation of our local Gin Gin clone into wine. It is a provocative, complex and textural wine exuding the seductive spirit of “old world” chardonnay. The vines have been managed to allow only dappled light into the fruiting zone. This promotes flavor development, low tannins and bright levels of natural acidity. The fruit is farmed in the cool southern end of Margaret River. The tiny 100g Gin Gin clusters are hand harvested at first light to preserve freshness of fruit. Flavours of fresh nectarines and candied pecan nuts are supported by aromas of poached pears and marzipan.
