  2. Hoddles Creek Syberia Chardonnay 2017

    Hoddles Creek Syberia Chardonnay 2017
    $60.00

"Well, I ordered six bottles just now. Inside information, and all that. Struck match, lime, grapefruit, almonds, chicken stock, flickers of cool green. Fine and composed, surges through the mouth, grips on tight, and doesn’t let go. So long. Flint, chalk, crunch, texture, subtle bitterness.

It’s all here. It’s very Adult Chardonnay. Racy. A nudge and wink to those in-the-know.

  3. Hoddles Creek Estate PSB Pinot Noir 2018

Hoddles Creek Estate PSB Pinot Noir 2018
    $60.00

"A single vineyard wine, close planted to Pommard and MV6 clones.

I liked it from first sniff. Cherry, spice, subtle biscuit oak, a distinct sweet earth/mineral thing happening, and some dried herbs and flowers. Medium-bodied, good amount of flavour, particularly impressive tannin – fine, thick and graphite – pulls the ripcord of juicy acidity on the long finish. Complex. Composed. Cracking. My kind of Pinot Noir."

  1. Passopisciaro Etna Passorosso 2016

    Passopisciaro Etna Passorosso 2016

    Regular Price: $69.00

    Special Price: $65.00

Raspberry, cherry, light spice and smokiness, almond, floral prettiniess this vintage too. Bright red fruits, firm, brick dust tannin, very ‘mineral’ and stony, slip of orange peel and dried herb on the finish. It’s a complete iteration of Passorosso with weight of fruit, freshness and perfume all in the mix. Splendid."

Black jellybean, menthol, hedgerow, blackcurrant and raspberry. Medium-bodied, juicy burst but with black olive and pencil/earth savouries, buoyant, fresh, complex, dusty emery tannin, and a long and briary finish. Such a great drink. 94 or 95 points."

  3. Luke Lambert Syrah 2018

    Luke Lambert Syrah 2018

    Regular Price: $37.50

    Special Price: $36.99

Many people know I don’t go a bunch on Shiraz, or more precisely, I have quite specific needs. Luke Lambert is the Jim Clark of winemakers.
Neon purple, perfume, pepper, boysenberry, blackcurrant, honey biscuits. It’s light to medium-bodied, intense small berried black fruit, plenty of bunch and spice, highlight is ultra-pure mineral water acidity, fine chalky tannin, and a long crisp peppery finish. Wonderful delineation and expression of Shiraz. Often not for everyone, but works for me. And so often you are defined by what you don’t do.

  1. Olek Bondonio Rosso Carolina 2017

    Olek Bondonio Rosso Carolina 2017

    Regular Price: $60.00

    Special Price: $58.00

A blend of Barbera, Dolcetto and Pelaverga dedicated to Olek's daughter Carolina. 2017 was an hard, hot and dry vintage. The Barbera was very concentrated and high in alcohol as a result; so Olek decided to blend in some dolcetto and pelaverga. The result is a beautiful wine, plenty of freshness as the barbera only went through 50% of the malolactic fermentation.

"This is a barbera with some dolcetto and pelaverga. Powerful but fresh style here. Barbera didn’t suit a solo wine in 2017 from Olek, per se. I loved this wine from tank during my visit to Olek Bondonio in June 2018, great to see it come to life here.

"I tasted through a range of Sons of Eden current/new releases recently and this wine stood out. I tasted them without knowing the asking prices and so I was surprised/delighted to find that this was also about the most affordable of them. Some days you have a win. What I like about this is that it’s both robust and svelte. It tastes of blackberry, kirsch, anise and dark leather and at every point along the flow of the palate it feels convincing. "

Darker and a deeper concentration with a spice driven aroma, less floral than the 2015 but still very fragrant with those exotic herbs and red fruit flavours. I really like the palate here, so silky and smooth and it builds all the time. This will definitely cellar well for around the 10 year mark but onwards if you like them older.

"The Mappinga Vineyard was hand-picked over 2 weeks, rows selected daily, the grapes chilled before being pressed. The bouquet of lychee and other tropical aromas sets the scene for a palate of a plate of carefully sliced fruits and a squeeze of lemon. All of which may suggest this is just a fun sauvignon blanc, when in fact it has a beautifully poised and very long finish and aftertaste. Highway robbery at this price.

Superb chardonnay. Straw-yellow in colour, flinty, powerful of fruit and glorious through the finish. It tastes of white peach, toffee-coated custard apples, oatmeal and smoke-drifted cedarwood, and while it’s tight through the finish the flavours someone manage to reach on through. It remains fresh, steely and refreshing and yet it offers so much. Yes, yes and yes. .... Rated : 96 Points Winefront.com.au
